Walk with Sunnyside Woodside MSP at St. Pat’s Parade For All

Hi Parents,

As many of you may already know, there is a community movement to try to get a public middle school on the north side of Queens Blvd. There is a Facebook page dedicated to this group’s efforts: Sunnyside Woodside MSP, we have been told there are allocated funds in the budget for a school but a location has been difficult to find and solidify. One possible location is the area behind Lou Lodati park; this was the proposed location for the firehouse that did not go through.

We need to remind our politicians and the community we still need a school and we have hundreds of kids in the neighborhood that would benefit.

The Sunnyside Woodside MSP group is trying to gather as many parents and children to parade with them at the St. Pat’s For All parade on Sunday. Please please walk with us. The more parents and children the better! We need to show Van Bramer our kids count, build here, not Long Island City!

St. Pat’s For All Parade
Please meet at 43rd Street and Skillman Avenue
Sunday, March 6 at 1PM

It will be fun! Balloons for the kids!

Hope to see you there.

Please complete the application and submit it to your child’s guidance counselor no later than Tuesday, December 2, 2014.

Every 5th grade family should take the opportunity to communicate their preferences for middle school by filling out an application. The application will include all the middle schools to which each student is eligible to apply. Families should also refer to the Middle School Directories to research school options, contact schools of interest, and attend any open houses and information sessions that are offered.

For Parents Applying to Middle School

Dear 6th Grade Parents,

As you know, your child will be applying to middle school this year. You probably have a lot of questions about the process. Please attend the middle school fair that will be taking place on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at IS 204. It will give you the opportunity to speak to representatives from all district 30 middle schools.

I am also sending you District 24 and 30 directories. Please make sure that you hold on to these booklets. They contain a lot of important information about the different middle school options. You will need to refer to these directories when you complete the middle school application which will be sent out in a few weeks. I will also be holding middle school information sessions in October at our school. Your child will receive a flyer with the session dates in a few days.
